About Us
The Codification Department (hereinafter referred to as the “CD”) is a body of the Authority for codification of assets intended for ensuring national defense and managing the Unified Codification System.
Main Tasks
The CD, based on generally binding legal regulations
· performs codification of assets;
· fulfills the role of the national codification office, resulting from the principles of the NATO codification system (hereinafter referred to as the “NCS”);
· sets, based on the request of ministries, other administrative authorities and regions (hereinafter referred to as the “user/s”), the conditions for using the codification system (hereinafter referred to as the “CS”). It provides users of the CS, upon their request, with an overview of products included in the CS, an overview of users, suppliers, manufacturers and agencies that have been issued or withdrawn a certificate of competence or have had the effectiveness of this certificate suspended;
· decides on the inclusion of an asset in the CS;
· checks the completeness of the draft codification data on the product before assigning a codification number and before including the product in the CS;
· assigns the product codification number, manufacturer´s codification code and supplier´s codification code;
· changes the codification data on the product based on changes in the product documentation and removes the asset from the CS if it has no user;
· verifies the ability of agencies to process the draft codification data on the product;
· decides on the issuance of a certificate of competence to process draft codification data on a product, on the suspension of the validity of this certificate and on its withdrawal;
· provides codification data of catalogued products and an overview of their suppliers and manufacturers to the relevant NATO bodies, similar authorities or authorities of NATO member states and similar authorities or authorities of other states that use the NCS;
· requires the relevant NATO bodies, similar authorities or authorities of NATO member states and similar authorities or authorities of other states that use the NCS NATO to catalog a product manufactured in their state.
The CD furthermore
· formulates the concept for the development of the Unified Cataloguing System;
· maintains the Unified Cataloguing System compatible with the NCS;
· provides training for employees of entities involved in the codification of assets;
· cooperates with the Association of the Defense and Security Industry - provides expert information, consultations, and conducts seminars on the method of codification for defense purposes and in connection with the NCS.
